PCCI HRDF and GIZ join RECOTVET Steering Committee Meeting

PCCI HRDF and its partner GIZ joined the 5th Steering Committee Meeting of RECOTVET in Bangkok, Thailand to review the overall results and progress of standard implementation.

In addition to reviewing the overall progress, the workshop which will run from February 9 to 10 will also tackle how to strengthen the function of private associations.

PCCI HRDF Executive Director Marlon Miña, GIZ long-term international consultant Mr. Christian Stüer, and short-term consultant Mr. Anton Sayo participated as part of the delegation from the Philippines. In addition, Mr. Elmer Talavera of TESDA was also part of the representatives from the country.

PCCI and TESDA inks another MoA

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) signed another Memorandum of Agreement today with the goal of strengthening the partnership of the two organizations specifically in the area of Tech-Voc.

Present in the event are TESDA Secretary Guiling Mamondiong and PCCI President George Barcelon. Also at the signing is PCCI Human Resources Development Foundation President Dr. Alberto Fenix, Jr.

One of the agreements of the partnership is the continuous promotion of the Dual Training System (DTS). A DTS Study was published by PCCI and TESDA in 2016 to let companies and students know the benefits of this kind of training methodology.

Deputy Director General for Partnerships and Linkages Ms. Rebecca Calzado, Executive Director of Partnerships and Linkages Ms. Luz Amponin, and other TESDA members also graced the event.

PCCI and HRDF receive Nepal Delegation

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and PCCI Human Resources Development Foundation Inc. received a Nepalese delegation from Colombo Plan Staff College on February 3 as part of their visit program.

The delegation’s visit was part of their government initiative to improve their country’s TVET which is called ENSURE (Enhance Skills for Sustainable and Rewarding Employment.) The delegation was headed by Ministry of Education Joint Secretary Mr. Surya Prasad Gautam.

PCCI President George T. Barcelon and PCCI HRDF President Dr. Alberto P. Fenix, Jr. spearheaded the delegation meeting where the two showcased PCCI and what it has done to improve the TVET side of the country.

Dr. Fenix also highlighted the K to 12 Plus Project, a German government funded initiative to support Philippines’ K to 12 Law, where he mentioned and stressed the use of the dualized education of training.

Also present in the event is PCCI treasurer Mr. Sergio Luiz-Ortis Jr., GIZ long-term international expert Mr. Christian Stueer, and PCCI TVET Committee Chair Dr. Carl Balita.

PCCI HRDF Breakout Session on Dual Training

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Human Resources Development Foundation (PCCI HRDF) held a successful breakout session during the 42nd Philippine Business Conference.

PCCI HRDF’s session was attended by numerous local chambers who are interested with the advocacies of the foundation.

Present in the event is PCCI HRDF President Dr. Alberto P. Fenix Jr. who presented the achievements of the organization and what it plans to do for future activities in relation to the development of the country’s human resources.

Also in the event are University of the Philippines (UP) School of Statistics Dean Dr. Dennis Mapa who presented the results of the recently concluded Cost-Benefit Study and PCCI TVET Committee Chairman Antonio Sayo who reported the Skills Mapping results.

PCCI 42nd Philippine Business Conference

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) held its 42nd Philippine Business Conference on October 12 & 13 at the Marriott Hotel.

Aside from people coming from different industries, people from the various local and foreign chambers attended the annual business conference.

Vice President Hon. Maria Leonor Robredo graced the first day of the event where she spoke to the business community about the advocacies her department is currently pursuing with the goal of improving the lives of her countrymen.

On the other hand, the closing day of the event was attended by His Excellency President Rodrigo Duterte who received the resolutions of the PCCI and the business community which they propose to the current administration in order to continue the robust economy.

On the two days of the event, different relevant topics such as infrastructure, SMEs, foreign relation, and economics were discussed on the plenary and the breakout sessions.
