PCCI inks MOA with TVET orgs and holds 2018 TVET Colloquium

Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) took a step further in continuing its advocacy to help develop the human resources of the country.

PCCI and its PCCI Human Resources Development Foundation (HRDF) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on Thursday, March 1 with the Tech Voc Schools Associations of the Philippines (TVSA) and Technical Vocational Schools and Associations of the Philippines (TEVSAPHIL), two of the country’s biggest Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) associations in the country.

The three organizations agreed to conduct joint programs designed to the improved the current information on the status of TVET and capabilities of industries and schools to promote TVET.

Gracing the event was PCCI President Ms. Alegria Sibal-Limjoco who mentioned how human resources is important for the especially for the country’s biggest organization.

“PCCI believes that proper training of our human resources could be a key in solving many challenges that the Philippines faces such as unemployment and skills mismatch—a concern that most of our members voice out often in the various forum that we organize,” President Limjoco said.

Unity is the key according to the PCCI President who added that collaboration of the government, education sector, and the private business is the key to solve some of Philippines pressing issues that she mentioned.

“The delivery of quality education and training is something that industry and the schools must work together,” stressed President Limjoco.

PCCI and TESDA hold its 4th Steering Committee Meeting

The TESDA - PCCI Steering Committee Meeting convened on February 6 at the PCCI office to continue its discussion on the proposed revision of the Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) of the Dual Training System (DTS) Law.
 
Present in the meeting were representatives from the Planning Office and Certification Office of TESDA. Newly elected PCCI President Ms. Alegria Sibal-Limjoco also graced the meeting with insights on how the business sector could greatly benefit on the current endeavor of the steering committee.
 
The revised DTS IRR is expected to be approved and be implemented in the first quarter of the year.
 
 
 

GIZ Visits New PCCI President

GIZ RECOTVET Program Director Mr. Ingo Imhoff paid a courtesy visit to newly elected Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) President Ms. Alegria S. Limjoco.

The two organizations committed to continue supporting its projects in development of the human resources of the Philippines and also strenghtening the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country.

One of GIZ's current project with the support of PCCI is the regional cooperation program to improve TVET named RECOTVET. The project is the committment of the German government to support the ASEAN region in their initiative to improve the TVET of participating countries.

 

2017 TVET Colloquium

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Committee conducted its TVET Colloquium on Wednesday, May 10 to address some of the issues of the local Chamber with regards to the topic.

The colloquium which was held in the office of PCCI in Taguig also gave a brief background on what the PCCI had done in the past to promote the cause.

Leading the event were PCCI Human Resources Development Foundation (HRDF) Inc., President Dr. Alberto P. Fenix, Jr. and PCCI TVET Committee Chairman Dr. Carl Balita.

Both Dr. Fenix and Dr. Balita said that the colloquium was a testament of PCCI’s dedication to promote and improve the country’s human resources thru dualized education and training. This initiative was also backed by the German government program, the K to 12 Plus Project.

Undersecretary Jesus LR Mateo of Department of Education (DepEd) and Partnership and Incentives Assistance Division Chief Joy Songsong of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) were present in the event to answer the queries of some of the local chamber representatives.

Christian Stueer of GIZ, one of PCCI HRDF’s partner in implementing the K to 12 Plus Project, was also present in the event where he explained to the participants the Dual Training model of Germany and how it could be beneficial for local chamber in the Philippines.

Different chamber from NCR and other regions in Luzon were present in the event.

PCCI HRDF Presents to National TVET Group

PCCI HRDF President Dr. Alberto P. Fenix, Jr. attended the 2017 Philippine TVET Conference hosted by the Tech-Voc Schools Association of the Philippines (TVSA) on May 19 to 20.

 The 2017 TVET Conference which was held at the Royal Mandaya Hotel at Davao City focused on the three key areas namely partnership of stakeholders both in private and public sectors; the innovation and advocacy of TVET; and lastly the quality assurance and assessment of TVET programs. 

 Also with Dr. Fenix is K to 12 Plus Project Project Coordinator Andreas Dernbach.
