PFK Mission visit with GPCCI/AHK Metal Cluster

Dr. Rolf Speit and Dr. Lorenzo Templonuevo of the PFK Mission, visit GPCCI/AHK offices with DTS Director Tobias Bolle and the AHK Vocational Training Committee members together with Mr. Andree Buhl, Commercial Counsellor to the German Embassy. After which was a site visit to the GPCCI/AHK led Metal Working Cluster at San Pedro National High School as well as a visit to partner company, Continental also at San Pedro, Laguna.

GPCCI Dual Training Director, Tobias Bolle, Participates in Bohol Economic Forum

GPCCI, in cooperation with USAID Philippines and the Bohol Provincial Tourism Council Inc., held an Economic Forum in Bohol, attended by members of the German-Philippine Business Community, the island's tourism sector and local government agencies.

The welcome remarks were given by Josephine Cabarrus of the Bohol Tourism Office.

Executive Director Peter Kompalla presented the work of the global German-Chamber network and outlined the benefits of a "GPCCI Partnership with Bohol Provincial Tourism Council" with regards to international marketing and market expansion. Several resorts on the Visayan island are German or German-Philippine owned, and German tourists account for a significant share of international guests.

The following discussion focused on challenges and opportunities for the tourism industry in the Philippines and in Bohol, where it is one of the most important economic sectors.

Dual Training Project Director Tobias Bolle gave examples of how the hospitality sector would profit from more widespread vocational training.

Participants agreed that the development of transport infrastructure is crucial to attract more international visitors. This includes improvements in ferry services and airport-to-hotel transport as well as the establishment of direct flights between the Philippines and Germany and of charter flights to Bohol. The Panglao Island International Airport, planned to start operations in 2017, will surely boost Bohol Tourism.

The closing remarks were given by by Atty Lucas M. Nunag, Chairman of the Bohol Provincial Tourism Council Inc., who also emphasized the importance of international travel fairs, cooperation with big travel agencies, and vocational training.


GPCCI 1st Vocational Training Awards

The 1st Vocational Training Awards were awarded during a Gala Night at the Marriot Hotel Manila on 26 November 2015. The German Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI), with the support of the K-12 PLUS project and the German Cooperation, organized the Awards for the first time to recognize excellence in vocational training which follows the principles of the German dual education model.
Award application was open to individual companies, consortia, or organizations (including educational institutions) that have implemented a German-style dual educational program in the Philippines.

K to 12 Plus Project Partner GPCCI continues Metalworking Pilot at San Pedro High School

With the implementation of the K to 12 curriculum, which includes Senior High School, a major objective of ensuring that graduates will have the skills necessary to have realistic chances of landing jobs immediately after graduation without need of tertiary education called for “Dual Training” or “Dualized Training”. This refers to a combination of practical, on-the-job, enterprise-based training and theoretical education in school, thus ensuring a proper balance of theory and practice and maximizing the potentials of students to be employed immediately after graduation.

The German Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry together with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Metalworking Industries Association Of The Philippines Inc. ( Miap ), Metro Manila Chapter, have been working together to facilitate the development and implementation of programs designed to increase the knowledge and capabilities of the Philippines on Dual Training.
San Pedro National Relocation Center High School is the pilot school wherein these programs related to the Metal Cluster of the Technical Vocational Track are implemented.

Momentous day for Metal Working Technology, that most of the valuable people behind the program of metal are all gathered together with one common feature in their face - "Smile".

GPCCI K to 12 Partner Organizes Study Group visit to Porsche

German carmaker Porsche was one of the destinations during the Study Tour of the the AHK Philippines' Dual Training Team, the K to 12 PLUS Project and Philippine delegates from PCCI, DepEd, TESDA and private institutions. The pictured sports car – worth 80.000 euros - is used by students of the Porsche Vocational Training Center in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen to practice repairs and modifications and to learn every detail about the Porsche cars hands-on. The Dual Training Delegation from the Philippines was the first international delegation to visit the Porsche Training Center, which was founded last year for 30 million euros.
